What Does MCS Registered Mean?
MCS stands for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme which is an independent scheme set up to certify microgeneration installers and products according to a set of consistent standards and provide greater protection for consumers.
The MCS has support from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, industry and non-governmental groups as being an integral part of contributing to cutting the UK's dependency on fossil fuels and carbon dioxide emissions.
Many property owners in the UK are now turning to solar panel installations as a means to reduce their own carbon footprint, reduce their energy bills and also to earn income from exporting solar energy to the national grid. With the introduction of Feed-In-Tariffs (also know as FITs or the Clean Energy Cash Back Scheme) which guarantee that income for 25 years, small and large scale solar installations have become much more attractive.
To qualify for these financial incentives both the microgeneration product and the installer must carry the MCS mark.
